Does this bag hold a 13 inch MacBook?
Yes it does, however it would have to go between the padded insert and the outside of the bag – so it wouldn’t be very well protected. Also it would push at the corners of the bag which might cause premature wear – so if you did use the bag for this it would be sensible to go with a FibreNyte version of the bag as this is more resistant to wear.
The Hadley One has a dedicated, padded 13 inch laptop slip. So if you need to carry a 13 inch laptop that might be a better option for you.
The front to back internal measurement is only 80mm but you say it will fit a DSLR? How does that work?
The bag is very flexible! At the bottom of the bag it can easily expand out to a 100mm front to back measurement, and at the top 120mm is a comfortable amount with 160mm being do-able if you need it to. So this easily covers most DSLRs inserted lens-down so long as you haven’t attached a battery grip.
The Canon 1DX, Nikon D5 or any DSLR (the ones with mirrors in) with a battery grip will be a struggle to fit in lens down – for those we would probably recommend something like a Hadley One (with the optional full size insert, a Hadley Large Pro or our 5-series and 7-series bags such as 207, 335 etc.
Does this bag need re-proofing to keep it waterproof?
No. The fabric is made of 3 layers – the middle layer is butyl rubber. Water cannot pass through this butyl rubber layer. As long as you don’t get a hole in the fabric or expose it to harsh chemicals (for example in a washing machine) the fabric should remain waterproof for many years. There is no need to apply re-proofing.
